Welcome to the Cathedral of the Dormition of Our Lady in Mt Gravatt, Brisbane.
Under the spiritual care of His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane, our Cathedral stands at the heart of the Holy Diocese of Brisbane. Here, the faithful gather to worship God through the Divine Liturgy, receive the Holy Sacraments and grow together in the life of the Orthodox Church.
Our Cathedral community includes people of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you are a lifelong Orthodox Christian, returning to the Church, visiting Brisbane or interested in discovering the Orthodox faith, you are warmly invited to join us.
About Our Cathedral
The Cathedral of the Dormition of Our Lady is the Cathedral Church of the Holy Diocese of Brisbane, under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
Located in Mt Gravatt, the Cathedral is a place of prayer, worship and fellowship for the Orthodox Christian faithful of Brisbane. Through the Divine Liturgy, the Holy Sacraments and the pastoral life of the Church, our community seeks to grow in Christ and bear witness to the Orthodox faith.
Under the spiritual care of His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane, the Cathedral also serves as a centre for the liturgical, pastoral and community life of the Holy Diocese. Together with our Parish Priests Father Nicholas Brown and Father Panayiotis Simos.
All are warmly invited to worship with us and become part of our Orthodox community.
Our Clergy
The Cathedral of the Dormition of Our Lady is under the spiritual care of His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane. Our clergy serve the liturgical, sacramental and pastoral needs of the Cathedral community and the faithful of the Holy Diocese of Brisbane.

Reverend Father Nicholas Brown
Parish Priest
Father Nicholas Brown was born in Whanganui, New Zealand, and moved to Australia with his family in 1975. He embraced the Orthodox Christian faith as a young man and later studied theology at St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College.
Father Nicholas was ordained to the Holy Diaconate by His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos of Australia on 15 October 2006 and to the Holy Priesthood on 27 January 2007. He has served the faithful of the Dormition of Our Lady for many years and continues to minister to the spiritual and pastoral needs of the Cathedral community.

Reverend Father Panayioti Simos
Assistant Parish Priest
Father Panayioti Simos was born in Brisbane and grew up as a member of the Cathedral community. He studied medicine at Bond University and later completed a Master of Theology through St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College and the Sydney College of Divinity.
Together with Father Nicholas, Father Panayioti serves the liturgical, sacramental and pastoral needs of the Cathedral and its faithful.
